Dr. Parker, austin veterinarianLeanne Parker - DVM, Owner

As the owner, president and head veterinarian of AM/PM Hospital in Austin, Dr. Leanne Parker guides our entire staff in offering extraordinary care to you and your pets. She has been practicing veterinary medicine since earning her degree from Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She graduated from veterinary school with the honor of magna cum laude.

Beginning her professional career on the Texas Gulf Coast in 1994, Dr. Parker moved to Austin in 1996 and quickly became the lead associate at AM/PM Animal Hospital. She then purchased the practice in July 2002 and has been expanding it ever since with her husband, Owen, who works as the hospital's Director of Operations.

As a child, Dr. Parker learned that she wanted to work with animals. "My family's dachshund had several serious illnesses when I was a child. I remember feeling so powerless and wanting to be able to help him. When he would come home from the vet, he was like new again and I thought, 'what a great profession!' What could be better than caring for pets all day and helping them get healthy? It seemed like an amazing job to me and it is," she said.

Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Parker attended Texas A&M University where she earned her bachelor's degree summa cum laude in biomedical science in 1990. While there, Dr. Parker received the Gathright Award for two consecutive years for possessing the highest grade point average in her major.

For her first job, Dr. Parker began working in the kennel of a local veterinary hospital where one of the technicians took her under her wing. "She helped me learn how to run tests, prepare for surgery, and so much else. It was so interesting and she made everything fun to learn," she said.

Dr. Parker is a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Her areas of professional interest include internal medicine and dermatology. She supplies donations to Support Austin Pets Alive and also volunteers her time with Meals on Wheels Program and P.A.L.S. (Pets Assisting the Lives of Seniors).

Dr. Parker and her husband, Owen, share their home with their dog, Darby, and their cat, Bailey. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and gardening.

Dr. Renner, vet in AustinJennifer Renner - DVM

With her comprehensive experience with many different types of animals, Dr. Jennifer Renner brings great skill and knowledge to our hospital medical staff. She's been working at AM/PM Animal Hospital since July of 2006. Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Renner worked at a veterinary hospital in Fort Worth and then at the BioAquatics Facility at Texas A&M where she took care of sea turtles, fish, and invertebrates. She also worked as a laboratory animal technician with mice, rats, rabbits and guinea pigs and learned proper procedures for working with environmental biohazards.

Her interest in working with animals began at a young age. "My high school biology teacher, Mrs. Saddler, enrolled me in the Boy Scouts' Co-Ed Veterinary Explorer program when I was 15. Later, I worked with exotics and learned the hard way that iguanas are not as sedate as people think they are," she said. "I once also had a squirrel use me as a tree." As a hobby, Dr. Renner used to breed hamsters for sale at pet stores.

Dr. Renner earned her bachelor's degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University and, while there, made the Dean's list and was the recipient of the four year Ella McFadden Charitable Trust Scholarship. She was an active college student in the Zoological Society, the Aggie Speleological Society and the Fightin' Aggie Texas Band. She continued her education at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. While in veterinary school, Dr. Renner participated in the Veterinary Medical Scientist Research Training Program in 2003 and earned the Kaytee Avian and Special Species Excellence Award in 2004.

Dr. Renner's professional interests include dentistry and internal medicine. Outside the hospital she may be found gardening, hiking, reading, writing letters, playing the French horn or taking her dogs swimming. Dr. Renner is an active member of the Austin Daylily Society and enjoys spending time with her husband, Dennis, and her dogs Cooper, Loretta and Dellmar.
